SPEEDY DRIFTWOOD DIY

i thought it an appropriate time to shake my blog a little bit; however, i didn't know if i wanted to shake it with a recipe, an outting, a diy, etc. as you can see, i went with a diy.
this past sunday afternoon, my good friend priscilla and i hit up the local bays' shores in search for driftwood. i LOVE to explore, so going beyond what was familiar to me was a blast! plus, these shores were so cool. before i get on a bunny trail i will stop myself there. the driftwood hunt was successful for the two of us, so we threw the wood into the car, headeing to her house.
i didn't have any plans in mind for this driftwood, but i knew that countless objects could be made with this rustic/vintage material, and that excited me. with an unusual, light amount of homework this week (so so thankful - thanks professors!) , today was the perfect opportunity to tackle a project.
i hit up my dad's workshop just next to my house, and gathered the needed materials/tools:
you need the pictured items, and of course a beloved hammer that i forgot to include here.
the steps are minimal: hammer two nails to the front side of the 'wood, cut wire to a length that is able to hold the wood up when it is hanging, staple that wire to the back of the piece and ta-da! easier than i even expected.
the use of this holder can vary from hanging scarves to necklaces and anything in between on it. i ended up keeping mine beside my sink to hold various pieces of jewelry, mainly because i'm prone to shed those things when i come in. its so convenient and man, i just love the look of it! there are so many other ideas i have for the pieces of driftwood sitting in my trunk, but for now i will utilize and adore this handmade piece!
