AUTUMN SPICED COFFEE SYRUP

pumpkin carving, pumpkin spiced candles, pumpkin bread, pumpkin, pumpkin, pumpkin everything. and i love it all. i'm such a sucker for autumn because, well, it's the best season - in my biased opinion anyway. to encourage the autumn-flavored madness, i came across a festive recipe when searching for a coffee syrup to make. courtesy of not-me, behold:

AUTUMN SPICED COFFEE SYRUP
 -3/4 c. brown sugar
 -1 c. water
 -1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg
-1/4 tsp. ground cloves (or amount to suit liking)
 -1/4 tsp. ground ginger
 -2 cinnamon sticks
combine all of the ingredients into a bowl, placing on medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.
once the sugar has melted, leave pot on low for about 10 minutes to allow thickening (plus it sets off a nice aroma for your house, BONUS). once the mixture has thickened, strain into an airtight container.
this syrup will stay fresh for 3 weeks, if stored in a container and put in the fridge. so there you have it! give it a shake before using and add a teaspoon or two or three, depending on how sweet you like your coffee (or tea/hot milk) to taste. i personally haven't tried this seasonal syrup myself, but it has to be good, right? i mean coffee with a boost of autumn? cheers, friends.
