BOYCE COLLEGE

i race around on wednesday, preparing for my trip to kentucky; i fold laundry, clean the house, maintain my status as a college student, pack my bags and head to youth group. oh how sweet it is to have friends who love the Lord and make me laugh like a maniac. youth group comes to a close (just within my ability to leave these folks) and i drive to a little town that holds bec. it's a cold night, at least what alabama can issue in october, and i get all the more hyper. we throw bec's bags into my car, say goodbye to her parents and hit 104 to walmart. we see our dearest friend walking in the parking lot, i run to her and freak her out, we laugh. bec and i get home, only to realize sleep will be much harder to achieve with the excitement raging inside of us. finally, our heads hit the pillow and we are out...until the early morning, that is, when it is still dark and the earth is just waking by the first ray of sunlight. WE ARE SO STOKED. after much dilly-dallying, we load the 'burb and hit up I-65 for what seems like eons. 10 hours later, we pull onto boyce's campus, as pumped as we've been since september. the confusion of the hotel reservations adds a bit of humor to the laborious day of driving. but still, the night is not complete without a stop for the best burgers in town, and we finally tuck in for the night.
we awake, friday morning, feeling the crisp 28-degree weather, seeing the colors of fall in full bloom and prepare for the ultimate preview day. with brevity of words, that friday contained: breakfast with staff, campus tour, lunch with staff, sitting in on a class, drinking coffee, free time, the filling out of housing applications, fancy dinner with professors, dessert, time at the president's house, late
night bonfire with students and at last, sleep. it was by far the best preview day hosted at a college, in my completely biased opinion.
bec crashed my hotel room that night, and we woke up still recalling the previous night's fun! unforgettable, that's for certain. saturday also held anticipation regarding the agenda in its time - a relaxing morning doing devotions in the cafe with a cup of joe in hand, while waiting for a long-distance friend to arrive on campus! once again, excitement was all in the cool, brisk air. once olivia pulled up, smiles and hugs went all around. "catching up" is quite on point for this occasion so we went from there to exploring a little of louisville. including a trip to quills of course.
that afternoon was incredible, just like olivia and becca are. the night ended with a big dinner at chuy's mexican with a table of 12 and way too many calories, and someone paying a bill $200 at forever21..we don't even know.
it was harder than i thought leaving, mainly because i had fallen in love with the campus and people at boyce. sunday ended with safe travels and rain. one of the most memorable weekends goes to that one, without a doubt. the people are so full of love for the Lord and it's evident in all that is said and done, take me back? i cannot wait to call boyce college home in the fall of 2014. but, until then, go sunchiefs!
