AFRICA SUPPORT RAISING, THUS FAR

hello all!

wow, it has been exactly 4 months since i have last posted; i miss blogging. life is crazy, fun, spontaneous, and beautiful - i am choosing to carve out time to compose this post, however. i am already aware that this post will fail in many ways -- not expressing the deep gratitude i possess, the excitement that wells up inside of me, and the hope/trust in God that burns within my heart. nonetheless, here goes...

as many of you know, i am currently in the process of raising support for a mission trip to Kijabe, Kenya, Africa. i began posting and talking about my trip in february, and i have taken massive steps in the right direction since then.
the cost of this mission trip totals $3300. honestly, when i first saw that number my first thought was there is no way i can raise that much money in just 3ish months; those words were thought of, however, without even considering God as the foundational factor in my support raising.
i can live to testify with the author of Matthew (who remains unknown to us) when he considers his own anxiety over life: "Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?"
these verses literally stopped me in my tracks of worry. thinking about the birds that fly above me, was simply the most calming thought to dwell upon when i would start to worry over the finances of Africa. from the beginning, my trust in the Lord's provision and ability has been tested and, i can personally say, has grown to be stronger.

because i have not gone through the whole mission trip process since two summers ago, i forgot the sanctifying toll it takes on my spirituality. i am not even in Kenya yet, but i have already grown to love the Lord more because of the steps that i have to take before even setting foot on those Africa plains.
for the most part, i have been consistent in posting updates about my fundraising (via Facebook), but inconsistent here. this specific post is to say that i have raise a little over TWO-THIRDS of my trip's cost; meaning, i am in need of only $1,000 more! i really am in awe of all the Lord's provided, how he has provided, and through who he has provided. it's the coolest thing. if you are reading this today and have donated to my trip, thank you. words through a blog do not suffice in regards to my gratitude... not only are you making this trip possible for me, but you are aiding in the cultivation of my walk with the Lord, therefore, bringing God utmost glory. hallelujah, friends!

like i said, i face [roughly] $1,000 left to raise, total. with the plethora of support stories i have told you thus far, i am firm in my belief that God will supply my needs, creatively, unexpectedly, and completely. he is far greater than $1,000, so why can't he provide it?

please pray for me as i prepare for this trip. pray that i will meet the totality of the cost; pray that i will continue to humbly rely on the Lord for all funds, strength, and adequacy needed to go fulfill the Great Commission; and lastly, pray for the Kenyan people that i will see, talk to, and do life with for 17 days this summer. i pray that they will be impacted by the power of the Gospel.
