SIMPLE PROJECT

happy thursday, friends!
today is the first day this week of slowness. this morning was work oriented, but it started early and ended early so i have had time to do little projects, lounge in an over-sized denim button-up and listen to records.
i'm moving to kentucky in august, and though that seems far away, i have already begun stowing the needed dorm items away so that it is stress-free all the way through move in day. because i was dwelling on the fact that i will be living with one of my best friends in a matter of months, it got me excited and eager to do something that related.
i remembered my mom grabbing these utensils while in the grocery one day, so i decided to spruce them up a bit. this is one of the easiest things to do, but it adds a nice personal and colorful touch.

COLOR-DIPPED, WOODEN KITCHEN UTENSILS
you will need:
-wooden/bamboo kitchen utensils
-acrylic paint and brushes
-jars, or something to hold them

first step, choose your colors. i purposefully chose bright, fun colors because i tend to go with neutrals for everything.
second step, tape your utensils off with the desired amount of space you want painted, like so. i used scotch tape because that was all i had at the moment. it ended up working better than i thought!
step three, paint away! keep it thin so that it will dry faster and adhere to the wood better, but thick enough to look bold. next, let them dry. i found a vase and glass that were just the right height that the paint wouldn't get touched while it dried. for this reason also, it's best the paint not be so thick that it drips when you turn the utensil upside-down.
once they're completely dry, you're done! so fast and easy, but cute as a button.
though this wasn't challenging or time-consuming in any way, it was fun to do and spurred my excitement to move. i am so stoked to use these in my full (can you believe it?) college dorm kitchen this august! plus, who doesn't like cheery kitchen tools?
