CROWNS & CAKE

this past friday night was a festive one. it began with my best friend winning homecoming queen.
isn't she a stunner?
the night proceeded with a fancy, late dinner out on the town. we chose Pinzone's Italian, seeing as it's one of the prettiest and delicious spots to eat around here.

i highly recommend the Gorgonzola appetizer and vegetarian lasagna. after much talking and realizing the OPEN sign was now off, we decided some pictures in the dropping temperatures would do us good.
you see, when we're together we cannot stop laughing. but laughter is the best medicine, right?
once we shivered to the car, we headed to my house while trying to warm up our granny-cracked hands.
the night before, i had invited shaley over, with a plan to completely surprise becca. we hung streamers, blew balloons, streamed a banner, wrapped her gifts, and i made a cake just beforehand!
needless to say, she was surprised and couldn't stop smiling as the record spun and spun. as she was unwrapping presents, we were wrapping up the night early early morning hours with mocha cake and coffee. why we drink AND eat coffee at midnight, i have no idea.
we finally fell asleep around 2am, the normal. that weekend was definitely a memorable one, and boy was that cake* tasty!

beyond-words grateful for these friends' love, accountability and encouragement.

**another post on the mocha cake recipe coming soon**
