AFRICA PT. V

Little Lambs Orphanage: "home" to roughly 20 children under the age of 10, run by two women (Ejediah and Winfred), and the most joyful place on earth. located just up the road from where we stayed on Kijabe mountain, is LLO. at this place, they give the warmest welcomes and make the hardest goodbyes.
prior to driving up there, i had never laid eyes on any of these kids, but i had heard countless stories that made me eager to love on each one! with a quick slide of the matatu door, these munchkins had me in love with all of them as they were waving nonstop, smiling so big, and reaching for white hands. they automatically trusted and loved us -- no questions asked.

magic tricks, worship songs, tag, bubbles, chameleons, laughter, and love is just scratching the surface of what our time at LLO looked like.

this is Gidreff (pictured above). he has chocolatey brown skin and the whitest little teeth. he's five years old, however, he is the size of a two year old. his mother abandoned him when we was just 3 months old, making him extremely malnourished. i fell in love with this little guy, threw him up on my shoulders and couldn't part ways with him until i was forced to leave.

Little Lambs Orphanage was definitely the thing about Africa that grabbed my heart the tightest, and has never let go. this school cares for and feeds these children for nine hours a day, and then the teachers walk them back home, which takes another hour. recently, they got news that they will be losing their property and building unless they earn $20,000 in the next couple of months. please pray for this orphanage.
from Little Lambs Orphanage, i learned to always follow Christ in obedience even when it means losing valuables in my life; i learned to rejoice always, as it tells us in Scripture, even if our circumstances appear dim; and lastly, i learned the real definition of love, from these children.
